Dr. Arielle Petropolis, or ‘Dr. P’, is a licensed chiropractor and the founder of Petropolis Chiropractic & Therapeutic Care. Before deciding to open her own practice in November of 2023, she previously worked in HRM for five years in multidisciplinary clinic settings, with a deep appreciation for the collaborative healthcare model.
Arielle grew up in a healthcare-oriented family and with early exposure to a variety of sports. Personally, her appreciation for the importance of proper movement and function grew through a back injury she sustained while training for and competing at two Canada Winter Games as a member of the Nova Scotia squash team. After this experience, she knew that a proactive approach involving manual therapy was the route she wanted to pursue for her career so that she could help others achieve optimal health and live full lives.
During her undergraduate studies at Dalhousie University, Arielle had opportunities to work in various multidisciplinary clinic environments, where she learned more about manual therapy. She furthered her education at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) in Ontario, Canada, where she received her Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) degree in 2019. Throughout her studies at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, Arielle completed the Contemporary Medical Acupuncture program at McMaster University and received training in Mental Health First Aid.
Dr. Petropolis believes that education and easing barriers to movement is important for patient-centered care. She has a special interest in neck and back pain, nerve-related pain, headaches, and jaw (TMJ) issues. In addition, Dr. Petropolis has a clinical passion for learning about protective injury mechanisms and tissue adaptation, and how they influence the body’s muscles, nerves, joints, and movement patterns. This includes finding and treating compensatory patterns related to injuries and educating people on how we can better educate and support patients through acute and chronic injury and stages of recovery.
Chiropractic treatments at Petropolis Chiropractic & Therapeutic Care can include manipulation (i.e. adjustments) and mobilization of the spine and extremity joints, neurofunctional acupuncture, soft tissue therapy, education, and rehabilitation exercises. Dr. Petropolis also offers microcurrent treatment for scar release and chronic pain modulation to chiropractic and non-chiropractic patients.
She looks forward to welcoming you to her office and continuing to help people achieve their goals related to health, recovery, performance, and feeling their very best!
